New to this and the default setup has full boxes on everyone, which turns a 5-man endgame into a wall of squares. Switched to skeleton and it's way calmer but now I can't tell who's already cracked. Is there a middle ground or do I just pick one and suffer

Geschlossenes ThemaCorner box. You get the position without the giant rectangle blocking your own build previews
Skeleton with a bright hidden color and a dull visible color. Hidden targets pop, visible ones stay quiet. Best of both

Yeah, down in the color list. Mine are basically grey and neon. Also turn off filled box, it's only good for screenshots
Filled box gang rise up. If you can't read a fight through a translucent rectangle that's a you problem
@shotgun_sam translucent rectangle = 40% of your screen covered in a 6 man box fight. But sure
Knocked color being separate saved me from wasting a whole mag on a downed guy twice last night, so at least keep that one obvious
